SCRAM's Purpose

First and foremost, our job is to preserve the school system that is the anchor of our community. It is the number one reason given by those who relocate here in a county that has grown even through a depressed real estate market.

The performance of our schools leads the nation, using a variety of metrics.

This website is to be a cache of information regarding the actions of Mrs. Marlow and her associates to sabotage CCSD. We not only need mobilized Cherokee citizens, we need the most informed Cherokee citizens.

This group was created to bring together like-minded people who have an interest in making sure the children of our county are our priority. Please feel free to contact us if you want to get involved.

Want the back story to how we got here?

The backstory was created to provide information on the actions our elected officials have taken over the last several years; actions which have led us into the crisis of today in Cherokee County with our School Board. The backstory gives relevance as to why it truly is important to pay attention to politics.

CCSD Facts

Cherokee County School District students continue to outscore students statewide on Georgia End-Of-Course Tests (EOCT) in all subjects, with all schools showing improvements including across-the-board steady or rising Physical Science scores.

Cherokee County School District students exceeded State averages on the 2013 Georgia Criterion Referenced Competency Tests, with improvements in Reading District-wide and every CCSD school seeing increases in one or more grade levels and/or subjects areas.

Cherokee County School District high school students continue to top National averages on Advanced Placement (AP) exams, with more students taking and passing the college-level tests.

The College Board’s AP Report to the Nation released this year shows that Georgia has moved up one place to 12th in the nation in the percentage of seniors scoring a 3 or higher – a passing score – and CCSD’s 2012 test administration passage rate of 80% exceeds both the State at 53% and the Nation at 57%. The School District’s passage rate also is an increase from 78% for 2011, with 2,730 tests administered in 2012, up from 2,273 the previous year.

The Georgia Department of Education also announced this year that all five CCSD high schools that offered Grades 9-12 last school year were recognized as AP STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and AP STEM Achievement High Schools. These designations recognize schools that both offer a variety of AP courses in STEM subjects (AP STEM) and see at least 40 percent of students who take the exams earn passing scores of 3 or higher (AP STEM Achievement).

Cherokee County School District Class of 2012 graduates earned the highest ACT Scores in the District’s history, and their achievement marks the third consecutive year of increased performance. All CCSD high schools scored above the national average on the curriculum-based, college entrance and placement examination, which is taken by seniors either in lieu of the SAT or in conjunction with the SAT. The CCSD average ACT composite, or total, score has climbed to 22.7 from 20.8 over the past decade, more evidence of the clear trend of rising student achievement and teacher performance. Cherokee County School District Class of 2013 results when reported are expected to surpass 2012.
